Just a quick note to say this works flawlessly with the newer Slim type PS2 consoles (the older one doesn't). Obviously the Eject button is redundant because these are toploaders whereas the others were trays, but yes, everything else works perfectly. You get quick access to functions that are fiddly to reach on the controller and - most importantly - you can power the console up from standby, which you cannot do with the Xbox 1 units without an aftermarket "XIR Remote" kit.
So it can work exactly like a normal DVD player, with the benefit of a great range of titles from the last generation of gaming, all of which can be picked up for pennies while everyone else pays £50 for brand new titles on the now-current Xbox360 and (technically superior) PS3. It's not the most ergonomic remote but it has every button you can think of, including the shape controls from the pad. It's a good, solid unit that won't break easily.
Every PS2 owner should have one of these.
