A glimpse of nostalgia
Review date: 2010-06-08 Rating: 8 out of 10
A nostalgic look back at how the BBC used to make period costume drama.
Being old enough to remember the original screening on the tv. I really enjoyed it warts and all.
The extra features were interesting but crude compared to modern documentary styles.
Probably not of much interest to younger viewers used to mega stars and CGI effects
but a treat for us 'oldies'

4/5 starsReview date: 2010-06-03 Rating: 10 out of 10When you learnt about Henry VIII you always thought he was horrid and always to blame but now you can see it was not always his thought. I used to think he made desicions by himself but he was alot if the time inflouenced by others. Take changing to the church of England , Anne Boyleyn changed his mind just to become queen and get her enimies back. This series was fantasic. It gave you a lot of information and was not boring. It was intresting. It gave you an in sight of what the tudor court was likeExcellentReview date: 2010-05-27 Rating: 10 out of 10Dated from 1970 but historically quite accurate compared to other series such as 'the tudors'. Starring Patrick Troughton as the Duke of Norfolk and Keith Michell as Henry, this is a well acted series. Some episodes are a little long, and there is no nudity, swearing or much blood letting for that matter. The religous nature of Henry's reign are well documented, and the aging process works well for Michell, who gradually become the obese, ulcerated and balding tyrant we all know from history books.SIX WIVES OF HENRY VIIIReview date: 2010-05-24 Rating: 10 out of 10Arrived quickly in good condition, great series, great actor, you will not be disappointed in this set of dvd's, if you like history, you will love this !Historical MasterpieceReview date: 2010-05-08 Rating: 10 out of 10I remember this production when first televised in 1970 and thought it was excellent then. I haven't changed my view and, if anything, thought it was better now. Keith Michell is absolutely outstanding as Henry VIII and I have never seen a better portrayal of the character.
