The quiet little mountain town of South Park, Colorado enters its sixth season as America’s weirdest and most dysfunctional town, and if you thought that title was already claimed by Springfield, I have one word for you: Lemmiwinks. If you thought it couldn’t get any weirder, this season will prove you wrong. But the good news is that South Park has always been able to maintain a mathematical-like balance of proportionality so impressive it could be charted on a graph: as South Park gets weirder, so it gets funnier (usually). Which makes sense because one of South Park’s greatest strengths has always been to reflect the strangest elements of society, which, let’s face it, are pretty strange. Targets this season include exploitive daytime TV shows ("Freak Strike"), celebrities gone wild (Russell Crowe fightin’ round the world), the Catholic priest sexual-abuse scandals ("Red Hot Catholic Love"), and the meat industry ("Fun With Veal"). Creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker even parody the reality of competing with The Simpsons’s longevity in "The Simpsons Already Did It," where Butters, gone out of his mind and in his Professor Chaos persona, can’t even come up with an original evil scheme to unleash on the citizens of South Park. Fortunately for fans, the quality of the writing is as strong this season as it has been at any point in the show’s run and it’s not like the show’s going to back off from its trademark gross-out factor at this point. Proof of that can be found in "The Death Camp of Tolerance." In an extreme satire of sex education class, Mr. Slave and Lemmiwinks, the heroic and intensely unfortunate gerbil, make their, umm, debuts. In South Park, this is what qualifies as a normal school day. Taken as a whole, Season Six is one of the show's strongest punches yet to the face of a society that had it coming. --Daniel Vancini
One of the best seasons! Review date: 2009-11-29 Rating: 10 out of 10
Possibly one of my favourite seasons of south park. I don't think I disliked a single episode, the only downside was the lack of Kenny, but Butters made a suitable replacement for the time being. South Park at its best, a must buy for fans!
ReviewsSouthpark seas 6 dvdReview date: 2009-07-14 Rating: 10 out of 10Does what it says on the box. great seller would use again really fast deliverySouth Park's funniest seasonReview date: 2009-03-20 Rating: 10 out of 10Season 6 of South park is, for me, when the shows steps it up a notch. From this season onwards the show is of a very different style, without any mager changes again untill season 11. Kenny may not be here, but Butters is a much funnier character, and Tweek has his good moments too. Almost every one of these episodes is a classic. Fun with Veal is probably my faveourite SP episode, as there are just so many funny moments in it. The Biggest Douche in the Universe and The New Terrance and Phillip Movie trailer are both some of the funniest celebrity parodies the show has ever done, and Asspen and The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers are both great film parodies. This season also has some of South Park's funniest Cartman-centric episodes with Freak Strike, The Simpsons Already Did it and Red Hot Catholic Love. This season introduces alter ego Professor Chaos aswell. There's loads of episodes that contain a fair bit of social commentary on things like drugs, puberty, 9/11 aftermath, child abduction (which is not funny) and homosexuality (Future self and me, Bebe's Boobs destroy society, A Ladder to Heaven, Child Abductin is Not Funny and The Death Camp of Tolerance) while still managing to have some really memorably funny bits too (Lemmiwinks!). Free Hat and Red Sleigh Down are not quite as funny as the other episodes, but thats just because this season is of such a high standard and both of them have their moments.
As far as special features go there are imformative and amusing mini-commentarys on each episode by the show's creators, but thats about it. Still, the special features aren't that important, and if you are a fan or you just want a good laugh with plenty of intelligent and crude humour then this box set is essential.THE CATHOLIC BOOOOAT!!Review date: 2009-02-12 Rating: 10 out of 10The funniest season on DVD so far, i cant wait for season 10.

It's definitly up-there in the top 5-or-so seasons of South Park.
